Assessment
Your skiing style and feet are unique, therefore it is important to have a unique boot. Gone are the days of picking a boot directly off the shelf due to colour and style.
It is all too easy for a shop to sell you the wrong boot as a bigger boot feels more comfortable in the shop. This does not guarantee a comfortable boot on the slopes and will definitely limit your progression. Here at The Boot Lab we carry out a thorough assessment providing a service tailored to your needs.
To ensure your boots are correctly fitted we use an assessment-based procedure. By carrying out an assessment, we are able to highlight and take into account important factors when selecting your boot.
An assessment with The Boot Lab is completely free and is not restricted to those looking to purchase new boots. If your current ski boots are uncomfortable or you feel they may be restricting your progression we can assess these boots. Maybe you've reached a plateau with your skiing? Despite investing heavily in lessons, equipment and practice? Quite often a skier's anatomy can block their progression. As skilled boot-fitters we will be able to modify your boots to complement your geometry. Where possible, we will make changes to your boots or, if necessary, advise on a suitable replacement.
It is important to realise that an assessment will take at least half an hour and in some cases, especially when dealing with injuries, considerably longer. It is an essential part of the process and why we would strongly advice you not to by your boots over the internet.

Below are some of the important points we consider when carrying out an assessment

We listen to the customer
By understanding your skiing level, your style of skiing and your skiing goals we are able to select a boot with the correct flex and forward lean.
Your anatomy
We will measure your foot and then select a suitable a boot. Every manufacturer bases their boots on a different shape and have many variations within their range. We will select the boot that most suits your skiing style, then, where necessary, reshape the boot to achieve the perfect fit. We have invested in the most up-to-date boot fitting equipment from Keyser tools in the U.S. This enables us to re-shape the shell to profile your foot perfectly. The result is a boot that fits your foot rather than the other way around!
Your circulation
Some people suffer from poor circulation and it's not much fun skiing all day with numb toes. A correctly fitted boot with no pressure points and a specialised ski sock will lead to warmer feet. If you find you suffer badly from cold feet we can also fit heated insoles.
Your range of movement and alignment
Through the fitting of a good insole, custom foam-injected liners and alignment of the cuff, we will create a better link between snow, ski, ski-boot and skier. You will get your skis on edge quicker and easier, giving you greater power through the turn.

These are just a few of the variables we take into account when fitting the perfect ski boot. Common foot complaints such as bunions, high arches, flat or wide feet each need taking into account when creating a perfect fit.

Once we have finished the assessment we will select the appropriate boot for you. Next up is a shell fit. By removing the liner and placing your foot in the shell we will examine how the foot matches the shell. We will make notes and at this point you are free to leave. We will modify the boot where necessary overnight, guaranteeing that the boot is ready to ski the following morning.

Your investment in your boots comes with a comfort guarantee

The following day you can catch first lifts with your custom fitted boots. The biggest advantage to having your boots fitted in resort is that if you experience any problems the following day we are here on hand to help. We can quickly make the necessary adjustments, ensuring you can concentrate on your skiing and enjoy the rest of your holiday in comfort.
